Today, investors are able to identify “good” companies and “profitable” companies but not companies doing the most good most profitably which is a missed opportunity for business, investors and society. In a new research report, “Hybrid Metrics: Connecting Shared Value to Shareholder Value,” we introduce a new approach that combines companies’ social and environmental impact with standard measures of financial performance, making the connection between the two explicit. This project was borne out of an ongoing conversation among the Enel Foundation, the foundation of the shared value global energy company Enel Group, social impact consultants at FSG, faculty at Harvard Business School, and members of the Shared Value Initiative.
Join the Shared Value Initiative for a conversation with the lead author, Mark Kramer, and Institutional Investor‘s Deputy Editor, Leanna Orr about this new research and what it means for the future of companies’ shared value efforts and investor reporting.
